Once you understand how beneficial grounding is, you need to learn how to become more grounded. You have to learn to let go of things in your life that are holding you back such as food addictions, drugs or alcohol dependency and other bad habits.

These bad habits can make you feel secure for a moment, but they are just numbing you and keeping the pain at a distance.

Grounding and Earthing

Grounding yourself is the same as earthing. It means that you are grounding yourself with the earth. There are things that you can do such as reconnecting with the world around you, taking time to concentrate on your breathing and more that can help you.

You can stop being distracted by other things and learn to anchor yourself with the earth and to be mor comfortable in who you are.

Your Senses and Grounding

To really understand what grounding is, you have to understand that you can use your senses to help you with this. Here are some ways:

  • Pay attention to what you see around you and call out loud the colors and shapes.
  • Pay attention to what you are feeling. Touch your body and see if you feel tight or if you feel the earth under your feet.
  • Ask yourself if you can hear sounds or if you can hear things that help you.
  • Find out what you can smell and taste and remember it or write it down.
  • Spend time focusing on your breathing.

Grounding Exercises

There are some exercises that you can do to help you to focus on grounding yourself. One way is to hold objects in your hand and concentrate on them. Use your five senses to talk about the object.

Seating Grounding

One thing you can do is sit in a chair and put your feet flat on the floor. Notice the textures of things around you. Let the negative energy in your body leave and replace it with new and positive energies.

Floating

Imagine that you are floating by a tree and you see the leaves. See the wind blowing and imagine it is becoming one with you.

Distraction

Do things in your life to distract you from being negative. Learn to focus on being positive and on doing the right thing.

Barefoot Grounding

One of the best ways to ground yourself is to go out into nature and take off your shoes. Walk in the dirt and do what you can to feel every sensation that this gives you.

You can also lay in the grass and look at the sun or the clouds. Meditate while you are doing this and allow your body to connect with the earth.

Breathing Exercises

Go outside and take deep breaths. Concentrate on your breathing and count to five while you breathe in and while you breathe out. Allow your body to become less stressed.

Water Grounding

Another way to get rid of stress is by using water grounding. Go outside and get into the ocean or the lake if you can. If you cannot do this, take a bath.

The earth is full of water and water can help to ground you fast. Imagine that you are floating and that all of your negative energy is leaving with the water around you.

Once You Are Grounded

Once you become grounded, you will feel differently. Here are some things you might feel once you are grounded:

  • Able to focus.
  • Can remember things easily.
  • Feel creative.
  • Calm and relaxed.
  • Thankful for things around you.
  • Excited about your life.
  • Strong intuition.
  • Feelings of power.
  • Confident with the decisions you make.
  • Alert.

Once you feel grounded you can engage in your life and use your energy to connect with people and things around you.

Grounding techniques can help to boost your life and help you to get rid of stress and anxiety.

Doing the things above can help to ground you but if you want to get rid of stress and anxiety all the time, you can do things such as self-hypnosis.
